Fixing an uneven storm door frame may be as easy as installing shims behind the door hinges.
How to attach hinge side shim storm door.
Mark a cutting line on the z bar 3 16 in.
Above the top of the door with a square.
Make sure you tighten every existing screw then take the shim out and test if the door is still unsteady.
As your house settles you may need to adjust the storm door frame.
Adjust it so there s a inch gap between the bar and the door s.
Cut hinge side z bar as in step 3.
Confirm the door swing direction and fasten the hinge side z bar to the correct side if necessary.
Place your shim by the hinge and screw all of the components back into place.

Take the hinge side z bar and line it up along the side of the door.
Then add nails farther down if necessary.
Start by adding a couple of nails near the top of the wood trim.

Tighten the existing screws in the frame using a screwdriver.
Lay on door carton.
Then place a strip of wooden shim or cardboard by the hinge.
Place it in the opening tight against the rain cap.
If the door isn t aligned you will need a thicker shim.
To attach it lay the door frame on its side with the hinge side facing up.

Identify the top of the hinge rail d.
The storm door frame mounts inside the wooden door frame opening on your home.
Screw everything back in place then check the alignment by opening and closing the door.
Remove the 2nd and 3rd screw from the top on the hinge side edge of door frame.
