I have seen a lot of posts on the forums about this and i thought i ll tell you how i did it so maybe you can save yourself some of the grief that i went through.
How do you change a door lock actuator on a ford f 150.
Pull the lock rod out.
The worst part of this is that you are fixing something that you cannot actually see and can barely feel.
This article shows you how to change your door lock actuator.
I could not find a video here on yout.
This article should apply to 1997 2003 f 150 pickups but could also apply to other models and other years of trucks.
Unplug the harness from the mechanism and use a screwdriver to push out the clips holding the actuator to the mechanism then pull it off.
The blend door on a ford f150 is on a verticle axis and the actuator motor can be seen from the driver s side foot well above the transmission tunnel.
This procedure is from a 2001 f 150 with power door lock problems.
I finally replaced the power door lock actuator on my 1990 big bronco xlt.
Pull the entire lock mechanism up and guide it out of the door.
Push in on the clip near the bottom of the door using a screwdriver to release it.
