I m moving my workshop from the cellar into the garage to have more space.

I can t say enough about how useful this thing is.

The jaws of the vise can be made custom to fit your p.
But not having a vise does not mean you need to put your woodworking on hold.
Wood screws and wood glue will help to keep everything together and a drill and saw should be the only major tools needed to dimension and prep the lumber.
Now don t for one minute think that when i build a bench for my new shop i m going to leave off the vise.
Making a homemade quick release woodworking vise.
Vises are expensive if you re a beginner you probably know that tools and especially power tools are really expensive why should you buy a vise when you can make your own.
This vise hardware requires a shop made outer jaw of 1 1 2 3 thick hardwood with dogholes if you so choose for holding stock with bench dogs.
This needs to be as strong as possible and slow set epoxy is the only adhesive i trust to do this.
I also extended the base past the jaws by 3 on both sides to facilitate clamping.
I made the sliding jaw about 1 8 wider than the fixed jaw so that it would register up against the worktable.
There are several vise sets online but i want to build my own one.
The vice is finished and it works fantastic i couldn t be happier.
The nuts are glued into the notches with slow set epoxy.
As you may have seen in the first video the mechanism works wonderfully and just as well.
Clamp and go once the vise is assembled clamp it to your bench as required and start sawing.
